Indian Mobile Network Operators - 2011 edition |
The Indian mobilephone scene is a huge multi-crore industry with more mobiles in India than TVs or internet connections and even Landline Phones. Yes, seriously, there are more mobile / cellphones in India than the standard landlines unlike in other countries.
This blog attempts to have a clear look and an in depth analysis of the mobile phone situation in india and the network operator situation.
For getting a mobile phone in India, you can either get a mobile and contract in a bundle from a network operator(I DO NOT recommend this unless you are old & lazy) OR get a mobile and a SIM card for the connection separately.
For the connection itself, you can either take
a prepaid connection(where you charge your account with scratch cards or from a local shop via easycharge)
OR
use a postpaid(the word was invented by Indians) which is the regular monthly billing connection.
If you want to watch your expenses, it is better to take the prepaid connection, so that there is no chance or using more than you can afford.
